Melbourne, Monday 29 August 2011: Always wanted to drive an electric car and never had the chance? Melbourne GreenZone Drive is the perfect opportunity to take one for a spin around the city!
From Monday August 29 through to Friday September 2, the roads around the Rialto on Collins St will be humming with electric cars powered by Better Place, and other low emission vehicles, as part of the second annual GreenZone Drive.
Better Place is proudly supporting GreenZone Drive as the sole infrastructure provider for the event. With a variety of low emission vehicles on display from Audi, Honda, Nissan, Renault, Mitsubish, Toyota and Volvo, Better Place is there to ensure the electric cars are fully charged and ready for drivers to take for a spin along a pre-determined route around the city.
Brought to you by the RACV and the Low Emission Vehicle Automotive Partnership, the Green Zone Drive event is a great personal opportunity to experience low emission motoring. The test drives are part of the week’s events held at GreenZone Drive HQ, in the plaza in between Rialto Towers and the InterContinental Hotel at 525 Collins Street in the city.
“We’re delighted to support GreenZone Drive for the second year in a row. We use 100% renewable energy to power our network and we’re proud to offer a fully zero emissions driving experience”, said Ben Keneally, Head of Marketing and Strategy for Better Place Australia.
“Our Charge Spots will be on display and the cars will be using them in front of the Rialto. We’ll also have our friendly staff on hand between 11-2pm each day to demonstrate how simple and convenient it is to plug in your electric car, and to answer any questions people may have about electric car infrastructure, technology or services.
“We invite everyone to come down, check out the event and learn some interesting facts about electric and low emissions vehicles. Making the switch to sustainable transport is one of the most positive things we can do for the planet: zero emissions driving is now fun, fast and affordable", Mr Keneally said.
