Melbourne, Monday 3 December 2012: Electric car drivers in Canberra and the ACT region can now take up a special offer of two years’ free car charging, using any charge spot on the Better Place ACT public network, after Better Place launched a new deal at the 2012 Canberra International EV Festival.
The offer is available until December 31 2012, and gives electric car drivers 24 months’ FREE access to the public network. Customers place a fully-refundable $400 deposit for the required cable, and can return the cable at any time during the 24-month period for a full refund of the deposit*.
“As people make the switch to electric cars, they need a public charge network that supports them while they’re out and about. Being able to park and plug in at high profile places like the airport, hotels and shopping centres is a key part of making electric cars convenient”, said Ben Keneally, Head of Strategy and Marketing, Better Place.
“For a limited time we’re offering free charging to early adopters – we’re supporting their decision by making it easier for them to drive more electric kilometres. This is a great opportunity for people who’ve already got an electric car or who may be thinking about getting one in the next few months, to really maximise their electric driving,” Mr Keneally said.
To take advantage of the offer, drivers can contact Better Place on 1300 006 938 to register for a free membership. At the end of the 24-month period drivers will have the option to switch to a paid Better Place membership that includes a personal charge spot installed at home or work.
Public charge spots are available at these locations:
Standard parking fees apply at some of these locations, however car charging is provided free. A fair use policy applies.
Better Place offers zero emissions driving by powering its network with renewable energy. The public network is another step towards making sustainable transport a reality in the ACT, and contributes to the ACT Government’s commitment to reducing emissions by 40% by 2020.
